Transdanube Industries builds a state-of-the-art steel plant in Oltenita
Our large capacity steel plant, the most modern of its kind in Europe, is being built in Oltenita, on the site of the former unused foundry TUROL SA, and production will start in 2014. Initial production capacity will be of 500,000 tons of rebar/year, starting from steel metal.
The project generates 500 direct jobs and over 1,000 indirect ones, and will revive the industrial tradition in the city. Our 200 million euros investment is directed at ensuring the highest technological standards, energy efficiency, advanced environmental protection, regional development, but also fair employment conditions for our workers and support for metallurgical education in the region.
We have already invested 30 million euros in preparing and cleaning up the site, as well as securing all required permits, and we are preparing to enter construction phase in the coming months.
The international group to which Transdanube Industries belongs is committed to long-term presence in Romania and expansion of its investments in the region, in metallurgy and outside of the metallurgical sector.
